What is SandStory?
SandStory consists of art images created by Joe Castillo as he draws in sand with his hands on a light table. The performance is choreographed to live or recorded music, performed live on stage and video projected on a screen for large audiences.
SandStory Presentations
THE PASSION (10 min. or 20 min)
A dramatic depiction of the betrayal, beating and crucifixion of Christ performed to the powerful music of Mel Gibson’s motion picture, “The Passion of the Christ.” This presentation has been used effectively as an outreach and evangelistic presentation.
CREATION (10 min. or 22 min.)
Six days of creation...plants, fish, birds, animals...ending with the creation of Adam and Eve.
THE MIRACLE OF CHRISTMAS (20 min.)
From the appearance of the angel to Mary, Mary and Joseph’s travel to Bethlehem to the birth in the stable. A touching story for the Advent season. This presentation has been used effectively as an outreach and evangelistic presentation.
THE PRODIGAL (10 min.)
The struggle of willfulness, rebellion and failure overshadowed by the power of grace, forgiveness and love based on the parable of the prodigal son. This performance can be used as a time of restitution and healing.
CUSTOM LIVE PERFORMANCE
Original SandStory performances can be custom created to existing compositions or original music scores, by request. These custom live SandStory presentations can include your own images, logos, and themes.
SandStory Requirements: (for detailed information please read our technical rider)
The SandStory presentation requires a room or auditorium that can be darkened and an 8’ x 6’ stage area. A video projector and screen must be provided by the client. The screen should be large enough to provide clear visibility for the entire audience. An audio feed from the state is also required.
What is “ArtStory”?
Art stories involve drawing on a 4’x8’ mural while giving a 35-45 minute inspirational message.

A story of walking through difficulty and the valley of the shadow of death in the care of the shepherd as described in the 23rd Psalm.

The challenges of leadership depicted by the life of Moses, one of the world’s greatest leaders.

Learning servant-hood through the sacrificial life of a simple peasant girl who was used of God to bring the greatest gift to mankind.

A Christmas story illustrating how the tale of the babe in the manger is not complete without the cross.

What is “WordStory”?
Having spoken in English and Spanish to thousands of people over a period of 32-years, Joe Castillo has mastered the ability to share Biblically-based stories that inspire, motivate and touch the heart. He takes spiritual truths and communicates them in a compelling and inspiring way to both teenagers and adults. Often accompanied by his “ArtStory” illustrations, his messages create a lasting impact in this visual generation. See the “ArtStory” list for suggested topics.
ArtStory & WordStory Requirements:
The ArtStory requires an 8’x10’ easel on the stage or platform that can be seen well without video projection for an audience of approximately 150-200 people. In larger venues a video camera and projection screen is recommended. The only other requirement is a lapel or “ear” microphone. Each ArtStory presentation lasts approximately 35-45 minutes.
